Family portraits | Fredericksburg, Virginia {sneak peek!}

Well, I was worried for no good reason.  Three boys!  I honestly was a bit  nervous.  I have only girls.  I know how to talk to girls.  I have plenty to talk to girls about.  So when Miss L. called and scheduled a family portrait session for her and her three boys as a surprise father’s day gift… well, I was a bit unsure!  But my worries were totally  unnecessary.  Not only were the boys gorgeous and polite  - they were an absolute hoot to photograph.  We had so much fun and surprise surprise, they even laughed at my corny jokes.  So Miss L and the gang, enjoy your sneak peek!  I’ll call when the proofs have arrived back from the lab so we can get this book designed, ordered and safely hidden away, awaiting father’s day!  (So if you know Mr. C… shhhhhh!  don’t say a word!)

family-portrait-fredericksburg-photographyAn “out-take” from the session… but this time they were laughing at mom. Something about “trees” I think.  You’ll need to ask her!smith-lea-251-edit

Lea S. - First of all, many “Thank You’s” to all of the compliments on my family! I think they’re quite handsome, but of course, I’m biased!

I just wanted to fill you in on the joke captured at in “out-take” photo….a few years ago, we were driving down a main road, and I could see my eldest son in the rear view mirror. As we were driving along, I noticed some teenage girls on the sidewalk. I was curious to see if he would look at them, so I watched him through the rear view mirror. Did he look? He almost broke his neck trying to!! So, me being the joking character, I asked if he was checkin’ out the “hotties”. He claimed he wasn’t. When I asked what he was looking at, he answered with, “Trees”. So, to this day, pretty girls are referred to as “Trees” and girls that aren’t as attractive are called “bushes”. During this shot, Willow was trying so hard to get them to do something “natural” with no success. So, I started to tell her about the “Trees” story, knowing it would make my boys laugh. It worked like a charm, as you can tell!!!

Lea S. - Oh, Willow!! They are absoltely beautiful!!! I loooove the one of the boys against the brick wall, laughing. You captured them perfectly!!! That picture is “so them”!!!

As a photographer, you did a great job with working with the boys! We had no idea what to expect but as soon as we saw you pull up in the parking lot, we knew it would be fun!! You made all of us feel comfortable, and within 10 minutes, you had each of the boys’ unique personalities out and in full force!! You were so patient with them and as a mother, you quickly picked up on them losing it towards the end – they were quite hungry! You were able to reel them back in and keep them focused. I cannot thank you enough for your talent! We will be using you from now on so here’s to hoping your hubby doesn’t get put on orders anytime soon!!!
