http://willowdawnphotography.com/blog Whidbey Island, Washington Photographer Tue, 31 Aug 2010 23:47:01 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0.1 http://willowdawnphotography.com/blog/family/family-day-washington-dc http://willowdawnphotography.com/blog/family/family-day-washington-dc#comments Wed, 25 Feb 2009 01:01:41 +0000 willowdawn http://willowdawnphotography.com/blog/?p=331 A couple of weeks ago, when the weather was GORGEOUS… we decided to go ice skating on the National Mall.  Well, apparently so did everyone else and the sessions were sold out for several hours.  So instead, we wandered over to the National Archives and visitied our Declaration of Independence.  My Mother-in-Law and her good friend from Iowa, joined us as we wandered around the mall, and finally headed over to a fantastic burger joint in DC.  If you watch the show Top Chef on Bravo, you may recognize Spike Mendelsohn, who has recently opened a great burger restaurant.  Good Stuff makes a mean burger, the fries with dipping sauces are all very good, the onion pieces fantastic, but really, you simply MUST go to Good Stuff, for the milk shakes.  I had the D-LECHABLE LECHE – and it was honestly the best milkshake I’ve ever had.  My family deemed the TOASTED MARSHMALLOW a close second, with it’s actual chunks of toasted marshmallows… but I wouldn’t know.  I don’t like marshmallows and I was MORE than happy to enjoy my D-LECHABLE LECHE.  MMMMMMM!!!  There was a scavenger hunt of some sort going on and each group needed a pic with Spike so he was a very visible presence in the restaurant, and my youngest now has a HUGE crush on him.
